“J-O-B-S” have been the number one priority of the Obama Administration since “Day One.”  Just ask him.  Obama’s focus on “J-O-B-S” is carried by Liberals like a banner.  It is proclaimed at every campaign event.  It’s all part of that “Hope and Change” stuff that really should have been called  “Hopeless Change.”

As Obama took office, the entire nation was behind him – more than half ready to proclaim him King Barack.  Not only was all of America – including Republicans – poised to support him, but they were willing to make the sacrifices necessary to put our country back on track.  Most Americans wanted to work, as they have since this country was founded.  They wanted to build something for their families.  They wanted to achieve the American Dream.  Many aspired not to join the middle-class, but to climb the ranks to the one percent that Liberals seem so ready to despise.  And even more basic, most Americans wanted to be in the workforce to make their mark on America, whatever that mark might be – to contribute to America’s future.  Americans are born problem solvers and if you want to solve problems, the place to be is in the halls of government, the offices of Wall Street, the large and small stores and banks dotting the American landscape, the farms and ranches providing our food supplies, the assembly lines manufacturing the products other Americans use every day.

I once worked with a Russian lady who made the case that Russians were the most educated people in the world.  But, she said, while they could converse freely about almost any subject in the world – while they could describe in detail, the workings of complex systems – they could fix nothing.  On the other hand, she continued, Americans were often laughed at for speaking only one language, or having expertise in only one area, but we had the incredible ability to invent and to make things – and to keep the world moving.

So, when Obama failed to deliver on “J-O-B-S,” he failed Americans on several levels.  He took away the very “Hope” he promised to grow and did his best to take away purpose, by filling the hole with welfare, food stamps, healthcare and government programs.  On the plus side, he has provided Secret Service protection to golf courses on multiple occasions and he and his family have kindly afforded that same protection to some of the best vacation spots in America and the world.

Since Obama took office, presidential speeches have risen in number and in soaring rhetoric, to heights never imagined.  It is difficult – some say impossible – to pass one day in America without seeing him on television, or hearing an Obama soundbite. And what happened to the “J-O-B-S?”  Well, he tells us that there have been 29 straight months of job creation.  He’s created millions of  jobs.

If his were a classroom, some eager student might throw his hand up, to ask:

“If you keep creating jobs and the true unemployment rate continues to increase, what have you accomplished?”  

Obama’s so-called best efforts have given us:

1) 8.1% unemployment – three tenths of a percent higher than when he took office.  If we count those who have dropped out of the workforce and those who are working part time jobs and are still in search of full time employment, the true unemployment rate is over 14%!

2) We have the lowest workforce participation among men in the history of our country…and at the same time, our president actually started advertising the availability of food stamps in Mexico!!!

But, there’s good news!!!

As we move nearer to the 2012 presidential election, President Obama is once again “On the Job.”   As always, “J-O-B-S” are his number one priority!

Right after his next round of golf…for sure, right after his next vacation…absolutely, no later than the end of a second term…

Who Says America is in Decline?

Transport yourself back to the historic moment.

It is Closing night at the Democratic National Circus.

Under the “Big Top,”  the two central figures of the Circus:  Joseph Biden, Vice President of the United States and Barack – “I am the President” – Obama.

Biden is leading the charge – preparing the way for his boss.  He leans forward on the podium, eyes of steel, jaw tight, finger jabbing in the air as if pounding the chest of an unseen enemy.

Then it comes.  Like a superhero lecturing a bully he has just beaten, he lets the hard words flow:

“Folks, there is one more thing — one more thing that our Republican opponents are just dead wrong about.  America is not in decline.  America is not in decline.  I’ve got news for Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan.  Gentlemen, never, ever –it never makes sense, it’s never been a good bet to bet against the American people. Never.”[1]

So powerful were these words that none other than Obama himself decided to borrow them in a campaign speech given during his two day Florida bus tour:

“When our opponents say this nation is in decline, they are dead wrong – this is America,”[2]

Obama was reportedly responding to a remark allegedly made by Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, that our growing federal debt puts our country in decline.

Obama’s fans are beside themselves with pride.  Here is their president pushing back hard against the idea that America is in decline – Surely, he’ll show them!  Regrettably, while their candidate may be responding strongly to a narrowly focused economic comment by Paul Ryan, it is he, who long ago, began heralding the decline of America and then with a one-two punch, started pushing us in that direction.

First, there was the famous Obama “apology” tour.  Then were the Obama comments about America and about the:

“manic and self absorbed” “mood of the country,” [3] 

It was Obama himself, who reminded us:

 “…we went off course…”[4]

“…great country that had gotten a little soft…”[5]

It was Obama who scolded America, noting that:

“Anybody been to Beijing Airport lately? Or driven on high-speed rail in Asia or Europe? What’s changed? Well, we’ve lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge and Hoover Dam and unleashed all the potential in this country.”[6]

And while he said all of these things, he was spending – always spending – until finally, our Credit Rating was gone.  But, even that wasn’t enough.  He was also dividing us – Poor against Rich, Blacks against Whites, immigrants against Republicans, citizens against police.  Was this the same guy who gave the 2004 Keynote Address for John Kerry?

“There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America – there’s the United States of America.  There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.”

 Are you the same man who once called our Country “Mean-Spirited” and ungenerous?  Are you the man who has attacked and apologized for your country as President?

America is a strong, proud and exceptional nation with a history of achievement and generosity.  It is not a line in a campaign speech…Especially yours.

Does Obama Think You’re Stupid?

During the Democratic National Circus, you heard Obama say:

                “I’m no longer just a candidate.  I’m the President.”[1]

That statement says so much about Obama.  How many times since this man was elected President has he reminded us that he is the President, that he is the Commander-in-Chief and that “elections have consequences?”

Collectively, these phrases serve far better, as reminders of his unbridled arrogance and perhaps, if we’re honest, of his insecurity in a role he occupies through mere rhetoric rather than accomplishments of any kind.

To check myself, I searched the White House web-site, finding 43,300 results for “Commander-in-Chief,” only one for “Elections have consequences,” (although it produced 486,000 results on Google), and 30,800 results on White House.gov for the corresponding phrase, “I Won.”  Perhaps that makes up for what now seems a modest 174 results for “I am President.”

The constant repetition of these self-serving, condescending and arrogant reminders of power go well with Valerie Jarrett’s one time statement that:

                 “He [Obama] is prepared to really take power and begin to rule Day One.”[2]

Now, having said all these things about the number one person in his life and his assessment of his own power as president, Obama surely must realize that being president is a serious matter.  He has the ability to order young men and women into combat and he now presides over an American economy with a workforce at its lowest point in 31 years – its lowest point in history for men.  As he stood on the podium, accepting the nomination of his Party for president – giving still another in a long line of teleprompter lead speeches – approximately 12.5 million Americans remained unemployed;”[3]  millions more only marginally attached to the workforce, or underemployed.   As he stood on that podium, bragging about 29 straight months of job growth, the new unemployment level was at 8.1%, three tenths of a percent higher than when he took office.  The National Debt was above $16 trillion and salaries for the average middle-class family had dropped by $4,000.  As he has incessantly campaigned, calling jobs his number one priority, he has failed to meet with his Jobs Council even once since January, 2012.  Joe Biden ridiculed a Mitt Romney suggestion for a Territorial Tax, apparently not even realizing that the president’s own Jobs Council had made the same unheeded recommendation.

So what did this very serious, able and thoughtful President say to the American people at the Democratic National Circus???

                “Have a surplus?  Try a tax cut.  Deficit too high?  Try another.  Feel a cold coming on?  Take two tax cuts, roll back some regulations and call us in the morning.”[4]     

Are these the words of a man holding one of the most powerful offices in the world?  Do they make you a better informed citizen?  Do they factually explain our problems in an adult fashion and offer solutions for your evaluation?  Or are these the words of someone who views his followers as morons eager to laugh at his jokes while their families starve?  You decide.

Decide quick – only 58 days to decide the future of America.

Obama and Israel – Really???

For the past two weeks, voters have been treated to the rare opportunity to observe a microcosm of the ideologies that drive both the Republican and Democratic Parties today – ideologies that affect the lives of all Americans.

Predictably, the first of the two national conventions was “conservative” (no pun intended).  Speakers cited the reasons for supporting Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and they were not shy about enumerating the policy failures of the past four years.  The emphasis however, was not on the past, but on the future and on what a Romney presidency would mean to the country and to our economic recovery.  Noticeably absent from the narrative was an “Obama bash fest.”  With the exception of an imaginative skit by actor Clint Eastwood, references to the president were largely measured and respectful, albeit critical of his policies.

By comparison, last week was an entertaining, but disturbing circus.  Much like the Obama presidency itself, the Democratic National Convention  was a spectacle of questionable decisions, illusions and insults to the intellect of American voters.  Here, over the next few days, are just a few of what I sincerely hope most readers will see as additional “Reasons Not to Vote for Barack Obama.”  The future of our country depends on it.

Issue #1

Midway through the Convention, it was discovered that Obama had omitted “GOD” from the Party Platform.  It was also discovered that he had omitted any reference to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  These were not just absent from the Platform.  They were removed from the Party’s previous presidential Platform.  It was a conscious decision.  This was first exposed in an interview by FoxNews Anchor Bret Baier with Senator Dick Durban (D-IL).  When asked to explain the basis for these omissions, Durbin became visibly agitated and defensive, suggesting that Fox and Baier were attempting to paint the Democrats as “Godless.”  But, despite Durbin’s reaction, we soon saw  Convention Chair Antonio Villaraigosa calling for a voice vote from delegates, in order to return God and Jerusalem to the Platform.  Most Americans, I think, would suspect that such a voice vote would be a mere formality.

Not so.

The first call for “Yea” or “Nay” produced an indiscernable difference in shouting volume between the two camps.  A noticeably confused Villaraigosa called for a second vote – same result.  Villaraigosa, as if searching for advice, stopped and looked to staff members – one of whom told him

“You’ve got to rule, and then you’ve got to let them do what they’re gonna do.”[1]

He again repeated the process.  Results?  Still the same.

Then, with amazing finality, Chairman Villaraigosa looked straight into the camera, announcing that:

                 “In the opinion of the chair, two-thirds have voted in the affirmative.”[2]

The truth is that the difference between “Yea” and “Nay” votes was barely discernable, if at all.  The suggestion that either side won by a 2/3 majority is sheer fantasy.   As we later discovered, Chairman Villaraigosa’s “Opinion” had already been posted to his teleprompter.  He could have no other opinion.  The “Party” had spoken – he was just the face.  We have to wonder if this is the process that Obama has followed in his alleged efforts to reach compromise and bipartisan solutions in Washington.  No wonder Republican Governors want voter I.D.!!!

The bigger, far more troubling part of this saga however, is that rank and file members of the Democratic Party, in large numbers, voted against returning “God” and Jerusalem to the Party Platform.

At the close of the convention when Cardinal Dolan gave the Benediction, the “Amens” were plentiful and loud – as loud as the “Yea’s” and “Nays” of the earlier votes.  We can only surmise from this, that the controversial issue for rank and file Democrats was not “God,” but the idea of Jerusalem being the capital of Israel.  This of course, begs the question of 1) whether or not the Democratic Party has, under Obama, become hostile to Israel; and 2) Who, in the Democratic Party was “testing the waters,” by removing “God” from the Platform.  While all of his minions were racing around to certify that the omissions were made without Obama’s knowledge and that he was proactive and adamant in having them re-inserted in the Platform, the fact remains that it was Obama’s Platform.  Were its writers using accepted boilerplate language, both items would have been included, because they had been there in 2008.  It is far more likely that these omissions represented a conscious decision executed with Obama’s personal approval – or even more likely – at his direction.

In the opinion of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL), DNC Chairperson, none of this amounted to more than a “Technical Correction.”

President Obama may be one of the most prolific speakers of  all the politicians in our history.  He is the speaking equivalent to literally thousands of windmills, albeit windmills designed for moving volumes of hot air.  Although he promised to be the most transparent president in history, he has proven one of the most opaque.  Indeed, it has been the frequency of his speeches that supports his claim of transparency – and their content that makes his presidency opaque.

How many speeches has Obama made about businessmen out to cheat the consumer?  How many speeches has he dedicated to the promise of protecting citizens from the evil clutches of big business?  Aside from signing the Dodd-Frank bill, he even created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  So, there’s transparency!  Right?

We’re no doubt in for a lot of Obama’s “Transparency” over the next few days of the DNC.  And convinced of the absolute truth and justice of every Obama utterance and action, the mainstream media is understandably reluctant to ask even a few mundane questions that might suggest reasonable doubt.  For example:

1)  If Dodd Frank is really designed to protect consumers, why does it expand the power of the Federal Reserve?  Is that a good thing?

2)  If  Obamacare has already caused a reduction of $716 billion dollars in Medicare funding, exactly how is it that Obama argues he is protecting Medicare and improving health care to seniors?

3)  The daughter of a 105 year old woman once explained to Obama that at 99, her mother needed a pacemaker and that nothing could be done for her without it.  In other words, she would die without it.  The doctor, after seeing the woman’s energy and love for life, o.k.d the operation and the woman lived at least 6 years longer.  When she asked Obama if this could happen under Obamacare, the answer was no and that sometimes it was better just to give them a pill.  How is it that Obama can take such a position while sneering at the suggestion that Obamacare contains a “Death Panel?”

4) Obama  claims  responsibility for 29 straight months of job growth  and the creation of millions of jobs.  WHO CARES?  If he created 50 billion jobs and the unemployment rate goes up (as it is) and workforce participation goes down (as it has), what do those jobs matter?  Does anybody get it?

5) If Obama can make people believe he’s saving Medicare, producing jobs, and looking  out for the middle class, why hasn’t he bypassed Congress as usual and issued an Executive Order removing himself from office?

Now that would be logical!

Obama Implies War Hero Un-American

Tonight signifies the opening of  the Democratic National Convention – a convention hoping to produce the re-election of a president who, after four years, still blames the Bush Administration for America’s problems.  Worse, while he doggedly refuses to accept personal responsibility for his own presidency, he has apologized for, denigrated and treated dismissively, our military and law enforcement heroes.

On Dec. 14, 2010, a Border Patrol agent was killed by a firearm allowed to “walk” across the border in an ill-conceived operation known as “Fast and Furious.”  Our Attorney General not only stonewalled the Congressional investigation into the case, but waited more than a year to apologize to Agent Brian Terry’s family.  He did so by email.  President Obama claimed Executive Privilege to aid in the “stonewalling.”

On Nov. 5, 2009, the president appeared at the Tribal Nations Conference, addressed the group on what amounted to “housekeeping” issues, gave a “shout out” to an attending Medal of Freedom winner (Obama says “Congressional Medal of Honor), returned to a discussion of the conference and only then, after this long monologue, in an “oh by the way” fashion, finally mentioned that there had just been a shooting at Fort Hood, saying in part:

“What we do know is that a number of American soldiers have been killed, and even more have been wounded in a horrific outburst of violence.”

On Sept. 17, 2009, President Obama presented Staff Sergeant Jared Monti’s Medal of Honor posthumously, to his parents, at a White House ceremony.  On June 23, 2011, addressing members of the Army’s 10th Mountain Division, President Obama said, in part:

“…First time I saw 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq. When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there. I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to, who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”[1] 

On December 12, 2010, Sgt. Sean Collins was killed in Afghanistan.  His family received a letter of condolence from Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell, in which she expressed sorrow for the death of “Bryn” – not Sean.  Sgt. Collins’ father requested a phone call from President Obama to Sean’s mother, but after several days, he was reportedly informed that the President could not fit the call into his schedule.[2]   The President had no such conflict however, in calling the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles to passionately praise him for giving convicted felon Michael Vick a second chance at pro football.  He had no problem with finding time to call his hero of the contraception wars, Sandra Fluke, to praise her bravery.  But, when it came to consoling the mother of a soldier killed in action, there just wasn’t time.

During February, 2012, U.S. soldiers removed several hundred pieces of extremist material, including Korans on which extremist messages had been written, from the Parwan Detention Facility in Afghanistan. According to U.S. military officials, these materials were being used to exchange extremist messages.  Following their removal from the library, the items were burned in a pile of garbage.[3]Instead of rewarding these soldiers, Obama promised Afghan President Hamid Karzai that:

“We will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, including holding accountable those responsible,”[4]

By March 2, six U.S. soldiers had been killed and another five wounded by our so-called Afghan allies, including a Major and a LCOL, shot point blank as they sat at their desks in the Interior Ministry.  Obama noted in a Feb. 29th interview, that his apology had “calmed things down.”

Then there was the leaking of classified information regarding the Osama Bin Laden operation.  Attacking ads run in response to the leaks,  by  former SEALs who formed the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc., Obama noted simply, “I don’t take these folks too seriously.”[5]

The treatment afforded to his former political opponent and Vietnam war hero Senator John McCain, was no less stunning.  In October, 2010, during the run up to the 2010 mid-term elections, President Obama participated in a radio interview aired on the Latin station, Univision.  Once again, this former Community organizer and agitator took the opportunity to demonstrate just how far away he remains from any desire to unify Americans. “Referring specifically to Republicans such as Senator John McCain, who are stressing border security and supporting strict immigration laws like Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration measure, Mr. Obama said:

‘Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.’”[6]

That he would make this remark against any American can only be seen as treacherous. Leveling such a charge against a man who served honorably in the U.S. Military and withstood the horrors of a North Vietnamese prison camp – even turning down early release to abide by the rules governing POWs – says far more about Obama than it does about McCain.

While President Obama has suffered no shyness in repeatedly reminding Americans that he is the Commander-in-Chief, not even a two ton sand sculpture of his likeness can give him the stature that he has shown so clearly he does not deserve.

Obama: Cops Will Harass Hispanics

Over the past three years, Obama has worked hard to inflame the passions of Hispanics and especially illegal immigrants.  It was Obama who used the bully pulpit to create a chasm between Arizona Latinos and the Governor and law enforcement officials.  He used the media to let Latinos know that:

“If you are a Hispanic American in Arizona — your great-grandparents may have been there before Arizona was even a state. But now, suddenly, if you don’t have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you’re going to be harassed.  That’s something that could potentially happen.”[i]

There is very little difference between this statement and the principle behind the Reichstag fire in Nazi Germany.  Obama needs always to find a common enemy that he can use to divide and polarize our nation.  Here, as in other statements, he makes clear that honest American immigrants should fear and distrust law enforcement officers – officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve their fellow Americans.

Many people have pointed to Obama’s past as a Community Organizer and professional agitator; and theorized that he would like nothing more than to create more divisiveness in America and to manipulate that divisiveness into more votes for the Democrats – particularly, for himself.  Well, here it is.  In Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address, the most divisive President in history, told us that:

“Let’s also remember that hundreds of thousands of talented, hardworking students in this country face another challenge: the fact that they aren’t yet American citizens. Many were brought here as small children, are American through and through, yet they live every day with the threat of deportation[ii]…let’s at least agree to stop expelling responsible young people who want to staff our labs, start new businesses, defend this country. Send me a law that gives them the chance to earn their citizenship. I will sign it right away.”[iii]

This is another Obama cheap shot and a “twofer.”  He is advocating a direct path to citizenship for illegal immigrant students – hoping to foster divisiveness between Latinos and the Republican Party.  Obama offers up a bill, which he puts on others to create – essentially the same as the questionable DREAM Act, which has already faced bipartisan opposition in Congress and which some say, amounts to opening “the door to allow millions of illegal immigrants to live and work in the U.S. without a vote of Congress.”[iv]  (Note: Since this writing, Obama has unilaterally enacted what amounts to the DREAM Act, completely bypassing Congress.  A lawsuit has been filed against the Administration by ten agents, alleging that they are being ordered not to enforce the Immigration laws.)

At the same time, he disingenuously casts the Republican Party as anti-immigrant, hoping to gain the vote of Latinos, while ignoring the economic and crime problems being experienced by residents along the Southwest border.

Dividing America – Establishing a Common Enemy

In a political party that has come unleashed since the election of Barack Obama, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) provides still another example of the over the top lies of Democrats, made with a straight-face.  We all know that we should not use Hitler analogies.  Still, it is wise to understand history and to recognize when an all-out effort is underway to give the illusion of a common, dangerous enemy, as Hitler did with the Reichstag fire in 1933.  These are the words of Congresswoman Waters in 2012.

“On Immigration policy and reform they [Republicans]  are on the wrong side of the track… They would have you believe that if they get into office, they are going to make sure that they are going to get rid of everyone in our society who was not born in America.  They’re not about civil and human rights.”[i]

The words here, are Water’s and not Obama’s.  Yet, there is a striking similarity to this and the phrases uttered by Obama about Hispanic parents being harassed when they take their kids out for ice cream and the need for Hispanic voters to “punish our enemies.”  Either this over the top rhetoric is hardwired into Democrats, or they are taking cues from – and marching in lockstep with their leader.

Hate is for Campaigns – Campaigning is Always

As he accepted his Party’s nomination for President in 2008, then Senator Obama laid out his case for change.  Among the fundamental promises made by the nominee was the promise of political discourse without the type of gutter sniping that has come to characterize Washington, DC.  Obama – in a manner that had to be pleasing to both Republicans and Democrats at the time – pledged:

“But what I will not do is suggest that the Senator [McCain] takes his positions for political purposes. Because one of the things that we have to change in our politics is the idea that people cannot disagree without challenging each other’s character and patriotism.”[i]

Events moved fast after that speech and it seemed like there had been hardly time to draw a breath before President Obama was vilifying and marginalizing Tea Party participants as “Tea Baggers,”[ii]waving imaginary tea bags in the air as he talked about them; calling on Hispanic voters to “punish our enemies;” [iii] and  “referring specifically to Republicans such as Senator John McCain, who are stressing border security and supporting strict immigration laws…as not being ‘…the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.’”[iv]   Ridiculing the Arizona legislature’s attempt to pass a strict immigration law, Obama told attendees at the 2010 White House Correspondents’ Dinner:

“Unfortunately, (Senator) John McCain (R-AZ) couldn’t make it.  Recently, he claimed that he had never identified himself as a Maverick – and we all know what happens in Arizona when you don’t have I.D. – Adios Amigos!”[v]

As Obama was personally making these comments, he was also leading a Party, whose members were making such comments as “the ‘tea party’ can go straight to hell,”[vi] that members of Congress with the Tea Party movement, would like to see blacks treated as “second class citizens” and “…hanging on a tree,”[vii]or that “…the Republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick.”[viii]

How can we not admire the new level of civil discourse promoted by Barack Obama?

10,000 Dead – Entire Town Destroyed

In a 2007 campaign speech in Virginia, then Senator Obama provided a glimpse of what he would show again and again in the coming years.  The tragedies, hopes and dreams of others are often merely lines on a teleprompter to “No drama Obama.”  So it was in this speech, where he boldly asserts:

“This week there was a tragedy in Kansas.  Ten thousand people died – an entire town destroyed.  I talked to somebody in the Governor’s office – Governor Sebelius, who I was going to be travelling with in New Orleans, had to fly back – found out that the National Guard in Kansas only had 40% of its equipment and they are having to slow down the recovery process in Kansas…”[i]

Obama used the opportunity to question how President Bush could have involved the U.S. in a trillion dollar war.

Recognizing that the actual death toll from the Kansas Tornado was 12 – not 10,000 – not an entire town – Obama told the audience he was tired.[ii]  He may have been.  Nonetheless, this error, his error as to the number of states, his error as to Medicine Joe Crow being a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, his error as to Sgt. Monti having been a living recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor – all of these errors scream of belonging to a man with little attachment to America, to the acts of American heroism, service and excellence – or to the tragedies impacting the lives of our fellow citizens every day.

But hey…he looks good, has a good speaking voice and reads a teleprompter with reasonable accuracy.
