Obama and Miracles of Logic!

Only 63 Days Remaining!

President Obama may be one of the most prolific speakers of  all the politicians in our history.  He is the speaking equivalent to literally thousands of windmills, albeit windmills designed for moving volumes of hot air.  Although he promised to be the most transparent president in history, he has proven one of the most opaque.  Indeed, it has been the frequency of his speeches that supports his claim of transparency – and their content that makes his presidency opaque.

How many speeches has Obama made about businessmen out to cheat the consumer?  How many speeches has he dedicated to the promise of protecting citizens from the evil clutches of big business?  Aside from signing the Dodd-Frank bill, he even created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  So, there’s transparency!  Right?

We’re no doubt in for a lot of Obama’s “Transparency” over the next few days of the DNC.  And convinced of the absolute truth and justice of every Obama utterance and action, the mainstream media is understandably reluctant to ask even a few mundane questions that might suggest reasonable doubt.  For example:

1)  If Dodd Frank is really designed to protect consumers, why does it expand the power of the Federal Reserve?  Is that a good thing?

2)  If  Obamacare has already caused a reduction of $716 billion dollars in Medicare funding, exactly how is it that Obama argues he is protecting Medicare and improving health care to seniors?

3)  The daughter of a 105 year old woman once explained to Obama that at 99, her mother needed a pacemaker and that nothing could be done for her without it.  In other words, she would die without it.  The doctor, after seeing the woman’s energy and love for life, o.k.d the operation and the woman lived at least 6 years longer.  When she asked Obama if this could happen under Obamacare, the answer was no and that sometimes it was better just to give them a pill.  How is it that Obama can take such a position while sneering at the suggestion that Obamacare contains a “Death Panel?”

4) Obama  claims  responsibility for 29 straight months of job growth  and the creation of millions of jobs.  WHO CARES?  If he created 50 billion jobs and the unemployment rate goes up (as it is) and workforce participation goes down (as it has), what do those jobs matter?  Does anybody get it?

5) If Obama can make people believe he’s saving Medicare, producing jobs, and looking  out for the middle class, why hasn’t he bypassed Congress as usual and issued an Executive Order removing himself from office?

Now that would be logical!

Bulletin: White House Seeking Informants

If you’re old enough to remember the early days of Fidel Castro, then you remember when neighbors were urged to inform on neighbors – particularly, against those expressing contrary political opinions.  But then, Castro wasn’t the first and he won’t be the last dictator to sponsor this type of nightmarish reality.  Most Americans feel an icy chill, just thinking about a government that divisive – that controlling – that paranoid – that dangerous.  Welcome to the Obama Administration.

In August, 2009, Linda Douglass, Communications Director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, appeared on national television, sitting at her computer screen, ostensibly tracking misinformation circulating about the new President’s Healthcare Reform plan.  Turning towards the TV cameras, Douglass explained:

“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.” [i] (Emphasis Added)

Is this the type of request you anticipated from the office of the President of the United States?  It’s an easily explainable request and a case can certainly be made for the paranoia of those who see it as sinister.  Yet, it runs along the periphery of very ugly territory – informing on our neighbors’ exercise of free speech.  The loss of liberty in minute doses is hardly felt until it is suddenly gone.  Arguably, this type of request provides a clear indication of how quickly, how far, by what means and in what areas the American people can be pushed into compliance with new policies.

Obama – A New Washington Culture?

In a speech in Green Bay on Sept. 22, 2008, then candidate Obama was quoted as saying:

“We must change Washington.  We must reform our regulations, our politics and our government, but we will not be able to make these changes with the same policies, the same lobbyists or the same Washington culture that allows politicians and special interests to set their own agenda.”[i]

Nice sentiments indeed, for a politician who only a few months later, nominated a Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary, who had allegedly made “hundreds of thousands of dollars in consulting and speaking fees from health and pharmaceutical interests, some of which would be at the heart of any effort to overhaul the nation’s health care system” [ii] – an HHS Secretary also found to be owing $128,000 in back taxes.

No hypocrisy here.

Rhetoric from Obama Campaign Hits New Low

July 2 turned out to be another big day for the Obama campaign – his surrogates demonstrating once again, the spirit of divisiveness that has been the hallmark of his presidency.

The first example came on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision on the so-called Affordable Healthcare Act.  While the controversial government mandate survived the high court’s ruling, their ability to leverage Medicaid expansion by holding hostage other federal funds  to the states did not.  Accordingly, several states immediately telegraphed their intention not to expand Medicaid within their borders.  One of these states was Florida.  Florida Democratic Representative Debbie Wasserman-Shultz was quick to weigh in, giving her professional opinion of the decision by Governor Rick Scott.

“I have to tell you,” said Wasserman Schults, “ I think he’s acting like a SPOILED BRAT.”[1]

Not to be outdone, Obama campaign surrogate Bill Burton constructed a strawman during a television interview, in which voters on the sidelines:

“…look at Mitt Romney and say, ‘Yeah, but is this CLOWN really going to beat President Obama?”[2]

All in all, another proud day for the Democrats – and they have so much reason to be proud.  Here are just a few other examples of their equally inspiring judgments on fellow Americans:

“All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the tea party.”[3]

‘Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics,’ Ackerman wrote, ‘Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.’”[4]

“the ‘tea party’ can go straight to hell,”[5]

“Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second-class citizens…Some of them in Congress right now with this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me … hanging on a tree.”[6]

President Obama, an organizer and agitator by experience and training, continues to illustrate how his strong example has set the tone for both his administration and his campaign.

Reason #45 – Obama’s Food Police

Only 129 Days Remaining!

Reason #45

Obama’s Food Police

On January 30, 2012, a North Carolina pre-schooler had her lunch replaced by an inspector from the Department of Health and Human Services’ “More at Four” program.  “More at Four,” a stimulus funded program operating at the state level, ensures that home packed lunches brought into the schools by children, conform to USDA guidelines.  Inspectors are periodically sent into the schools to check these homemade lunches.[i]

In this case, the inspector’s position was that a four year old child’s home packed turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat white bread, with a banana, potato chips and apple juice did not conform.  Instead, the child was given a school tray, from which she ate only three chicken nuggets…CHICKEN NUGGETS!  What a healthy alternative! [ii]

For those who do not think Obama’s Healthcare Reform program is about federal controls, here is a great example of this Administration’s belief that government trumps parents – even in areas as personal as food choices for our children.  It is fine, in Obama’s world, for a government inspector to tell, or imply to a child that there is something wrong with the lunch provided by his or her parents.  It is apparently also o.k., for the inspector to make a change in that lunch and for the providing school to charge the parent, as they did in this case.

While stimulus funds were marked for the hiring of police officers, it is fair to say that no rational American believed the Administration meant “Food Police.”

Is this the type of change we should believe in?
